Defense Verdict Obtained in Ohio County
Steven Brooks and Jason Wade successfully defended a general surgeon in the Circuit Court of Ohio County, West Virginia. The plaintiffs alleged that our client, who successfully completed a colorectal anastomosis revision, failed to appreciate the patient was susceptible to pressure ulcers. Plaintiffs claimed our client should have entered a postoperative order instructing the patient be gotten out of bed sooner. On February 1, 2018, after a four-day trial, the jury deliberated for less than 1.5 hours before returning a verdict finding that our client met the standard of care. The jury trial was held before Judge Sims. Ohio County Civil Action # 15-C-99.
